NELSON HOPES FOR REAL BIPARTISANSHIP IN 110TH CONGRESS

Nebraska’s Senator Ben Nelson expressed his hope for real bipartisanship in the newly sworn-in 110th Congress today.

“The discussion about bipartisanship in Washington today is encouraging.

“We’ve seen that bipartisanship can work. In 2005, 14 of us put aside politics, came together, and hammered out an agreement over judicial nominations that defused a highly charged atmosphere and cleared the way for the energy bill, the highway bill and two Supreme Court nominations.

“As I begin my second term as Nebraska’s Senator, I’m hopeful that everyone talking about bipartisanship today will be working in a bipartisan fashion tomorrow. For the good of the country, we need to come together and find a way to get things done.”

During the 110th Congress, Nelson will serve on the Senate Armed Services, Agriculture, and Appropriations, and Rules Committees.
